At home, there are several appliances that uses water. The dishwasher, washing machine and water heaters are standards fixtures in many homes. These appliances are also prone to getting damaged because of scale formation. So what is scale formation and how can you prevent it from damaging your valued appliances? Is there a scale filter or any water filter that can remedy the problem?
Hard water is water that contains high levels of calcium and magnesium-containing minerals. Scale formation is caused by accumulation of the aforementioned minerals in hard water on the surface of pipes and other water pathways. The scale formation restricts the flow of water in pipes and water passages, increasing the water pressure and putting the plumbing under unnecessary stress which increases the likelihood of leaks.
Scale formation can affect the efficiency of heaters which can increase power cost. Fragments that broke off from the scale buildup can get into parts of appliances with sensitive components and damaging it.
Although there are no treatment systems that effectively remove the buildups on the inner surfaces of pipes and other water passages, scale formation can be prevented by treating the water and removing the calcium and magnesium-containing minerals before it gets into the distribution pipes and into the households.
